1. "The two most important days in your life are
the day you were born and the day you find out why."
  2. "When you learn, teach. When you get, give."
  3. "I love him and therefore I want to protect him
    —even from me,
if that makes sense. I didn’t want to skip any steps of preparation for marriage, or leave anything unresolved that might reemerge later to harm us—to harm him."
    Elizabeth Gilbert, Committed
  4. "

“To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles…”

And indeed, that IS the question: whether to float with the tide, or to swim for a goal. It is a choice we must all make consciously or unconsciously at one time in our lives. So few people understand this! Think of any decision you’ve ever made which had a bearing on your future: I may be wrong, but I don’t see how it could have been anything but a choice however indirect — between the two things I’ve mentioned: the floating or the swimming.

  5. "Unless you share your gifts, the world will never know the beauty that you have to offer."
  6. "Certainty is the closing of the mind."
  7. "I think that that’s the great benefit of being in the arts, where the possibility for learning never disappears, where you basically have to admit you never learn it."
  8. "We sit and talk quietly,
    with long lapses of silence,
and I am aware of the stream that has no language,
coursing beneath the quiet heaven of your eyes, which has no speech."
